ANR, in our vigilance in protecting public health, has launched a campaign to advocate changes in the way air purification manufacturers and retailers advertise their products. The air purification industry is rife with misleading statements that could easily lead the public into believing that these systems eliminate or reduce tobacco smoke. In reality, no air purification system has been created that can protect against secondhand smoke.
Below is correspondence to and from the air purification companies that we have contacted, other organizations that have made misleading air purification claims, as well as companies advertising air purification systems. As you can see, ANR has posed questions to these companies, asking them to clarify their position on the health claims they are insinuating in their advertising. If you know of companies making similar claims, please contact ANR at (510) 841-3032 or via email.
