In March 2007, the journal Heart published a study titled, "Chronic exposure to second hand smoke and 30-day prognosis of patients hospitalised with acute coronary syndromes: the Greek study of acute coronary syndromes," which examined "...the association between chronic exposure to second hand smoke (SHS) and the short-term prognosis of patients hospitalised with acute coronary syndromes." The study concluded that "Exposure to SHS increases considerably the risk of recurrent events in patients who had survived a cardiac event."
